SML - Self Managed Learning - similar to Action Learning but with more emphasis on individuals committing to a learning contract over a period of learning, often with a qualification on the achievement of the learning.
A version of this that People Developments have very successfully implemented, in commercial environments, is Participant Designed Learning. A multi module programme with learning groups, starts off with defined content, from organisational research. As the programme progress, participants learning goals drive the content of the programme. The facilitators become the expert sourcers of the 'Best in Field' providers, for the subjects the participants want.
